St James’ Day is celebrated on July 25 and is the occasion for festivities in Spain (being their patron saint), especially in Santiago when the Cathedral is lit up and pilgrims and locals party all night. If St James’ Day fall on a Sunday, the whole year is declared a Holy Year and pilgrims arriving at Santiago receive a plenary indulgence which, in a Holy Year, completely absolves them of their sins.

To celebrate St James Day on Tuesday, July 25th we have made a booking at Casablabla, 12 Leigh St, Adelaide for a shared tapas meal. The cost of this will be $40 per head – with drinks to be purchased from the bar. To help us with planning, it would be greatly appreciated if you could note the date and let us know as soon as possible if you’ll be coming.

A pilgrims’ mass will be celebrated at the Christ Church (Anglican) Cathedral in Darwin. This will include a hosting and blessing commencing at 6pm on St James’ Day. Other churches are coming to join in as pilgrims come from all denominations, faiths and traditions. Everyone is welcome.
